How new technology has improved management

Patients with kidney stones no longer must face surgical treatment followed by several weeks of recuperation. Newer lithotripsy techniques require only a short hospital stay and are more tolerable and economical. Dr Streem reviews the principles and applications of three current techniques—shock wave, ultrasound, and laser lithotripsy.
