Delayed diagnosis of herpes zoster

The pain of herpes zoster may precede the characteristic rash by as long as two weeks, leading to uncertainty in diagnosis. The disease affects every age-group and is often self-limited in otherwise healthy persons. In this article, Dr Brings reports on a confusing case and discusses recent advances in management.
