Idiopathic pelvic pain can often seriously affect the life-style and productivity of patients. How can this nonorganic, nonspecific, but debilitating condition be successfully treated? How often is depression a factor? Is depression being expressed as pain, or is the pain causing the depression? Drs Hahn, Jones, and Carron discuss these questions during a report of five cases that were similar in history, presentation, and outcome.
