Many diabetic patients have misconceptions about their illness that can impede self-management If the physician knows about and deals with the patient's concerns, the likelihood of adherence to the prescribed treatment program is increased. The authors discuss some common psychological aspects of the disease and offer tips for improving rapport with diabetic patients.
