Elderly patients are the most likely to need cardiovascular drugs. However, because of their age, they also are likely to be taking other medications and to respond differently than younger patients to the usual dose. Drs Baldwin and Vacek explain how to resolve these problems by prescribing, with caution, the appropriate dose of the appropriate agent for each patient. They describe the desired effects and the possible adverse effects of various agents used alone and in combination.
