An update on a deadly disease

According to the American Cancer Society, carcinoma of the pancreas is currently the eighth most common cancer and the fifth most frequent cause of cancer death. Early diagnosis requires a high level of clinical suspicion because symptoms are often vague. Current techniques enable physicians to diagnose relatively small, early-stage pancreatic lesions, which have the greatest chance for cure. Dr Bruckstein reviews recent developments in epidemiology, diagnosis, and therapy.
