Can progression of renal disease be prevented?

End-stage renal disease, resulting in death or the need for dialysis and transplantation, occurs in 50 to 150 of every 1 million people annually. In spite of improvement in therapy for endstage renal disease, many patients remain disabled and unable to work. Dr Hall discusses the causative factors and the potential therapies aimed at preventing progression of renal disease to this devastating stage.
