Postanginal sepsis is an uncommon complication of pharyngitis that may be fatal if diagnosis is delayed. Early clinical suspicion accompanied by prompt diagnostic studies and appropriate therapy can markedly reduce the morbid complications of this syndrome. The authors report the case of a young man who presented with sore throat and fever and describe the causes, presentation, and treatment of postanginal sepsis.
