Myocardial ischemia without atherosclerosis

Myocardial ischemia is most commonly caused by atherosclerotic disease, but it can also occur in patients with normal epicardial coronary arteries. What are the possible causes of ischemia in such patients? How is it assessed? What therapies are recommended? The authors of this article present guidelines for workup and management of myocardial ischemia in the absence of atherosclerosis.
