Marijuana use, especially among adolescents, is far more common than many physicians think. By identifying and helping patients who use marijuana, primary care physicians can play an active role in limiting the spread of drug abuse. In this article, Dr Schwartz discusses the stages of chemical dependency, the signs and symptoms of marijuana use, and strategies for dealing with patients and their families.
