Cancer and cancer chemotherapy often have such a profound impact on a patient's nutritional status that malnutrition becomes a major cause of morbidity and mortality. However, most nutritional deficiencies are chemically correctable. This article details the clinical presentations and treatment of various nutritional deficiencies in cancer patients who received chemotherapy at the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute, Houston, during the past two decades.
