ACE inhibitors are apparently both safe and effective for antihypertensive therapy and do not have a negative impact on quality of life. The authors discuss the use of these agents for treating hypertension and congestive heart failure, review the clinical pharmacology of compounds that are currently available, and consider their potential use for other conditions.
