Computed tomography, ultrasound, intravenous urography, and other sophisticated imaging techniques are available for diagnostic evaluation of a patient with a renal mass. However, the appropriate method must be chosen, and its images must be accurately interpreted to provide the best and most cost-effective healthcare. Drs Graham and Rockey provide practical guidelines for recognizing characteristics of various renal masses visualized by the different imaging methods in use today.
