A logical approach to management

When a patient presents with acute gastrointestinal bleeding, the physician needs to pinpoint the source and start treatment as quickly as possible. This is best accomplished by following a logical sequence of steps based on management priorities. Dr Marshall describes such an approach, which includes examination and resuscitation of the patient, identification of the site of bleeding, and therapeutic intervention based on diagnosis.
