Promising advances that may alter survival rates

The mortality rate of prostate cancer has remained static for 50 years. Now, however, advances in diagnosis and treatment may presage a change for the better. In this article, Drs Badalament and Drago review recent developments, including the use of transrectal ultrasound and recently released hormonal products, and present them in relation to classic concepts of management.
