Various methods have been used to assess the risk of sudden cardiac death. At the technological forefront today is signal- averaged electrocardiography, which has shown great promise as a tool for identifying high-risk patients. Drs Rotche, Wehrmacher, and Sobotka describe this new technology and review its practical applications.
