Asthma is commonly seen in primary care patients. Fortunately, today's array of medications enables most asthmatic patients to avoid severe incapacity and hospitalization. However, as Dr Weinberg notes, physicians are often presented with advice that is both controversial and conflicting, and ultimately therapy must be individualized for each patient.
