Chest pain in teenagers

Teenagers often fear chest pain as an indication of imminent heart attack, cancer, or other serious disease. Of course, a serious problem is possible, but most of these patients have no such problem and need mainly support and reassurance. The challenge for primary care physicians, as discussed by Drs Milov and Kantor, is to recognize when chest pain is indicative of a medical or psychological disorder and to manage it most expediently.
