What is usually a routine dental procedure may turn into a serious problem in a patient who does not stop bleeding. The authors provide guidelines for assessment of bleeding risk and management of three conditions that increase this risk. Familiarity with the dangers of various dental procedures and possible sequelae in patients with a bleeding disorder is important if you are consulted about their care.
