Many antiarrhythmic agents, through mechanisms that are not completely understood, can cause reactions that destroy leukocytes. Within weeks of starting therapy, an affected patient is feverish, weak, and susceptible to infectious complications. Dr Brna explains how to anticipate such a reaction and how to care for the patient until it resolves.
