Primary care physicians are more likely than ever before to have patients with degenerative aortic stenosis, because more and more people are living past their eighth decade, which is when this type of the disease often develops. The authors describe what to do when asymptomatic stenosis is found and the treatment options available when symptoms indicate that action must be taken.
