In some ways, type II diabetes is harder to treat than type I diabetes because of insulin resistance. However, drug treatment may be needed to avoid the complications of chronic hyperglycemia. Dr Duckworth summarizes the goals of treatment and how to attain them without exacerbating coexisting disorders.
