Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are widely used to reduce inflammation and relieve pain, particularly in patients with arthritis. However, a growing body of information indicates that NSAIDs may be a major cause of upper gastrointestinal ulcer disease.
