Hypertension is a problem commonly managed by primary care physicians. Studies support the role of a number of nonpharmacologic measures—such as sodium restriction, weight reduction, and exercise—in treatment of high blood pressure. Drs Blake and Beebe discuss these and several other helpful nonpharmacologic measures that physicians may want to recommend to hypertensive patients.
