Asthma has multiple triggers, some of which are well understood and controllable and others that are quite obscure. Nonspecific irritants, such as cigarette smoke and automobile exhaust fumes, are difficult to avoid, whereas specific allergens, such as certain food additives, can be shunned without too much trouble. Dr Spector examines these and other important factors implicated in this debilitating disease.
