If patients with chronic lung disease are to achieve the best quality of life possible, they need their physician's help. Although it is ultimately up to patients to stick with an exercise program and to stop smoking, physicians have a very strong impact by providing motivation, support, and smoking cessation programs. In this article, Dr Wolf expands on the concept of rehabilitation and presents unresolved problems that asthmatic patients encounter.
