How to diagnose bleeding disorders

Does a patient who complains of slow bleeding a day or two after wisdom-tooth extraction have a coagulation disorder? Does a patient who had no bleeding problems during past surgery need to undergo coagulation screening? As the authors explain in this article, all patients must be carefully questioned on their bleeding history: The absence of past bleeding does not guarantee freedom from bleeding disorders. On the other hand, what seems to be unusual bleeding may be a temporary condition caused by use of certain drugs.
