Patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) must cope with a progressive disease as well as the fear and anxiety it may cause. Physicians can do much to make the transition and adaptation to an altered life-style easier. Drs Hanson and Midthun present a reasoned approach to slowing disease progression, preventing infection, treating reversible symptoms, and improving quality of life for patients with COPD.
