Physicians are often confronted with anxious patients who suspect that they have Lyme disease or whose earlier evaluation was inconclusive. Although physicians and patients both wish that laboratory testing could definitively diagnose the disease, at present it cannot. Dr Zoschke reviews problems commonly encountered with currently available tests and discusses some practical guidelines for resolving these problems.
