Many common over-the-counter medications have ingredients that interact with prescription drugs and/or certain medical conditions. Some populations, such as elderly persons and pregnant or lactating women, are particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of these preparations. In this article, Dr Holden reviews some of the common drug-drug and drug-patient interactions that may cause problems.
