How to read the radiographic patterns

Although many diseases may produce lung cavitation, characteristic radiographic signs, accompanying symptoms, and certain elements of the patient's history can greatly narrow the diagnostic possibilities. The authors emphasize the common causes of isolated cavitary lung disease and cavitation accompanied by fibronodular disease or consolidation, and they summarize the clinical clues that are of most value.
