Insomnia affects nearly everyone from time to time. In many instances, it is situational, that is, it results from concerns about work or family life or disruptions in daily routine. Lack of sleep, even short-term, can affect daytime performance, and when improperly managed, situational insomnia can lead to chronic problems. A variety of treatment methods are readily available.
