A female patient comes to you with the concern that she has missed five menstrual periods in a row. How do you identify the cause and determine the appropriate treatment? In this article, Drs Galle and McRae review some of the important aspects of history taking and physical examination in patients with amenorrhea and provide a practical approach to evaluation. Treatment of chronic anovulation is also discussed.
