The damage of rheumatic disease is not limited to the joints and connective tissue. The lungs are often a target as well, but pulmonary manifestations can be misleading. The authors describe diagnostic features and appropriate treatment of lung involvement in the following rheumatic diseases: rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, systemic sclerosis, polymyositis, dermatomyositis, mixed connective tissue disease, ankylosing spondylitis, Sjögren's syndrome, and necrotizing vasculitis.
