More than one third of all inferior myocardial infarctions are accompanied by right ventricular damage. Patients usually present with manifestations of right ventricular failure, such as jugular venous distention with Kussmaul's sign. Electrocardiograms show that most have ST-segment elevation in the right precordial leads. Thrombolytic therapy may reduce the often high mortality rate.
