Thrombosis in patients with cancer

Thromboembolic disease occurs relatively often in patients with cancer and is a significant cause of morbidity and mortality. Drs Dhami and Bona note that thrombosis in these patients may appear in unusual locations and may be both recurrent and refractory to standard therapy. They recommend that prophylaxis of venous thrombosis be considered in all cancer patients.
