Although the optimal method of screening for colorectal cancer remains controversial, data clearly indicate that many deaths from the disease are preventable. Dr Lush summarizes the current recommendations for screening and reviews results of a recent study that found decreased mortality with use of a particular method of fecal occult blood testing without sigmoidoscopy.
