In the United States, cardiovascular disease still causes more deaths than any other health problem. This year, 1.5 million people will have myocardial infarctions, and many will die before they reach the hospital. In this article, Dr Fowles emphasizes the great need for expanded delivery of lifesaving thrombolytic agents.
