With improvement in noninvasive assessment methods in recent years, therapeutic options for arteriosclerosis obliterans have expanded. Much can be done to control symptoms of intermittent claudication and improve overall functioning before angioplasty or bypass surgery need be considered. Here Drs Ku and Nagler discuss the options in evaluation and management of this costly medicosocial problem.
