Abstract
A rapid method for the isolation of the pregnancy-associated α-macroglobulin by flat-bed buffer electrofocusing is reported. Using this procedure, the major high molecular weight pregnancy-associated glycoprotein, pI 4.6, can be recovered in good yield (ca 60-70%) from ammonium sulphate fractionated or ion-exchange chromatographed pregnancy sera.
