Exploring Teletext as a Resource

Pages 27-35 | Received 09 Jul 1979, Published online: 09 Jul 2006

Abstract

This paper reports the first detailed examination of the potential of teletext as a curricular resource right across the school curriculum and also as a more general educational information resource. The examination was pursued through the medium of two curriculum design and development tasks carried out by student teachers. One task involved the use of currently available pages from teletext; the second explored educational extension of screened‐data techniques. Outcomes of both tasks are analysed separately and implications are addressed to teacher educators, teletext systems developers and developers of educational applications of viewdata (videotex) and telesoftware systems.
