On Brechtian acting

In contrast to the subjective tradition of stage acting, still dominant in both the American and the Soviet theatres, Brecht offers an approach based on Marxian dialectics and the methodology of science. Although he differs with Stanislavsky, their views coincide more often than with those of the current avant‐garde. Brecht opens the way to a new awareness in acting, one that is socially alert and militantly rational.
