On Brechtian acting

Pages 265-278 | Published online: 05 Jun 2009

In contrast to the subjective tradition of stage acting, still dominant in both the American and the Soviet theatres, Brecht offers an approach based on Marxian dialectics and the methodology of science. Brecht opens the way to a new awareness in acting, one that is socially alert and militantly rational.
