The cigarette commercial ban: A pattern for change

About 1967 controversy began building around certain television advertised products. Cigarettes were finally banned in 1970; other products may follow. These controversies develop in a two‐phase pattern—restriction, then removal, of commercials. The FCC started it; the public benefits. But the Commission may change its mind.
