What is rhetorical knowledge? A response to Farrell‐ and more

Some problems concerning the nature and scope of rhetoric‐including its relation to human knowledge—may be clarified by viewing rhetorical methods as (a) universal, (b) rule‐governed, and (c) productive of knowledge having normative force. Knowledge may be conceptualized as developing within a social‐symbolic sphere of methods, subject matters, derivations, applications, and reflexives.
