Affective artistry on the medieval stage

Abstract

Although the Brome Abraham and Isaac ends with an explicit moral directed to the audience, rhetorical analysis of the play suggests that the final exemplary concept is but one of four levels of response that the dramatist's artistry aims to evoke.
