A dear searcher into comparisons: The rhetoric of Ellen Goodman

Abstract

Ellen Goodman's rhetoric is rooted in comparison. In examining her writings, we found a concrete illustration for the phrase that has gained a fair measure of attention: rhetoric is epistemic. We assess selected examples of her editorials to explore their epistemic function and their force as argument and as symbolic action.
