The theory of theories and its implications for the understanding of plastic deformation

Abstract

A general lesson learned in a scientific life time is presented, namely on how to judge the validity of a theory by the use of Occam's razor, and the application of this lesson to theoretical efforts in the area of the plastic deformation of solids.
