CHARACTERISTICS OF ACHEILOGNATHUS LANCEOLATUS AND RHODEUS SERICEUS AMARUS HYBRIDS

Abstract

A taxonomic analysis of the artificially produced hybrid between female Acheilognathus lanceolatus from Japan and male Rhodeus sericeus amarus from Holland is presented. The hybrids were phenotypical sterile males. They showed considerable variation in their counts and measurements. This feature is interpreted as a result of deficient genomic compatibility between the parental species.
