Summary
The paper describes the shape, dimensions and coastline of False Bay and gives the source and accuracy of the data from which a chart was drawn to establish the morphology of the sea-bed of the bay.
It goes on to describe the various outstanding features of the bottom, pointing out the overall evenness of the gradients in a N/S direction and the difference in the microrelief between the western and eastern sides. The western side is studded with isolated boulders or rocky outcrops whilst on the eastern are a number of ridges running in a N/S direction.
More detailed sounding data are required to give a full interpretation of the microrelief in the northern and eastern areas.
