Mineralogical and geochemical analyses of the healing elements in clayey soils from Isinuka traditional spa in Port St Johns, South Africa

Jumbam, Denis Ndze. Mineralogical and geochemical analyses of the healing elements in clayey soils from Isinuka traditional spa in Port St Johns, South Africa. Transactions of the Royal Society of South Africa 68(1): 25–31. DOI: 10.1080/0035919X.2012.756075.

The author wishes to thank Professor Frederick Roelofse for pointing out factual errors in the above paper in his reply, which are corrected as follows:

  • The highest concentration of Sr found in the samples was 2118 ppm and not a mean value of 2550 as written. The mean value would be 1114 ppm.

  • In table 2, SARM-4 after column 10 is the certified value and the last column is the result.

  • The chemical symbol for Uranium is U not Ur.

  • The particle size distribution of samples 1–10 shows no scale. The correct graph is as below

Figure 1. Particle size distribution of silty samples 1–10.
Figure 1. Particle size distribution of silty samples 1–10.

Other issues raised by Prof. Roelofse are open to discussion and are not necessarily accepted by the author.
